Google Pixel Watch Review

The Google Pixel Watch is Google’s first smartwatch of its own. Until its release in October 2022, the search engine company had only provided Wear OS, an operating system that other brands used for their models. With this wearable, the collaboration with the acquired partner Fitbit is noticeable.

The smart watch tracks the sporting activity and health of its wearers. It not only measures the pulse and records workouts, but also creates an ECG on the wrist if desired. It records outdoor routes with the help of the integrated GPS module. Prospective buyers can choose between standard Bluetooth variants and LTE versions.

The Google Pixel Watch : Flat, light, compact

Unlike competing brands, Google only commits to one size for its Pixel Watch. The smartwatch is only available with a diagonal of 41 millimeters. In return, the user can choose between the case colors silver, rose gold, and black. In addition, a wide range of wristbands is provided, which are made of materials like textile, leather, silicone or stainless steel.

Thus, wearers have the opportunity to give the watch their individual style.Being almost completely bezel-less, the AMOLED display of the Google Pixel Watch stretches to 1.60 inches.

It offers an always-on mode, where the screen stays on the entire time and thus consumes less energy.

The smartwatch is mainly operated via the touchscreen. There is also a rotating crown at the three o’clock position. The Google Pixel Watch is waterproof up to 50 meters, so it can be worn while swimming without any problems. It only weighs 36 grams and is therefore pleasantly light despite its extensive technical features. Its case is also very slim thanks to a height of only 12.3 millimeters.

Independent or coupled? Versatile in any case

Completely as expected, the Google Pixel Watch uses the Wear OS operating system – after all, the search engine company developed it itself and equipped other smartwatches with it for years before. Numerous typical applications are found on the platform, such as a weather display, the voice assistant or Google Pay for contactless payments. The latter is realized by the built-in NFC chip.

The Google Pixel Watch is equipped with a speaker and a microphone. With the Bluetooth models, phone calls that arrive on the smartphone can thus be accepted and made.

The LTE versions are suitable for independent communication. Thus, calls are also possible without a paired smartphone. Streaming music or downloading apps is also possible this way. Thanks to a 32 gigabyte memory, there is plenty of space available on the smart watch.

Google Pixel Watch
The Google Pixel Watch has a great feel to it.

It is suitable as an athletic companion by recording workouts and determining distances covered and calories burned, among other things. Google takes advantage of its collaboration with Fitbit. This data is analyzed via the integrated Fitbit app.

This also applies to health values. The Google Pixel Watch measures the pulse and the oxygen saturation in the blood. It can also create an ECG on the wrist. Furthermore, it analyzes sleep and estimates stress levels. The battery life of the smart watch is around 24 hours.
